Happy Friday! I hope you had a fabulous week, but I’m sure you’re so ready for the weekend. This weekend I hope to attend my first Les Mills Body Combat class. I have a brunch planned with a few friends I haven’t seen in awhile. And my husband and I hope to paint and pick out decor for our powder room (our tax refund check recently came in so spending it on the house!) Wasting no more time here this week I wanted to bring you some more Friday Favorites to feature some of the products and things around the web I’m loving the most.
Foam Rolling and New kicks for Training.
Two favorites are featured here. I have recently started foam rolling to get rid of muscle soreness. I have added extra weight onto a lot of my exercises recently and because of that have been a bit more sore than usual. While I enjoy the beautiful pain, when I have trouble getting out of bed it’s a problem. I know some people like to take a hot bath, get a massage, or or indulge in what my Dutch friend calls the “beste CBD olie” (she loves it, and thinks a few drops give her great relief), but personally I have found such relief in foam rolling. This is a very simple foam roller pictured, they make more complex rollers for a deeper massage of the muscles. I have noticed a significant difference in how I feel each morning just by spending about 15 minutes twice a week to foam roll all the major muscle groups of my body. Here is a blog post I read to first learn about foam rolling: How to Foam Roll. And the second favorite featured is my new Nike Free Training shoes. I love Nike’s they are just the cutest. And I recently decided I needed one pair of shoes for running and one for training. You really should have different shoes for different types of workouts and I finally made it happen. I plan to use these training shoes when weight lifting, riding the elliptical, or doing body weight exercises and I will wear my running shoes for well, running, hehe.
Chobani Simply 100 Greek Yogurts
If you follow me on twitter or instagram you have probably seen photos of these greek yogurt cups because I have one every day for lunch. And they just came out with a mixed red berry flavor that is absolutely delicious! I love these simply 100 yogurts because they are naturally sweetened with stevia. They have 12 grams of protein to keep you full, only 7 grams of sugar as opposed to 14+ grams in most regular yogurts, and are only 100 calories WIN, WIN, WIN.
Whenever I need a comfort food healthy makeover I always check the Skinnytaste blog first. So over the summer I bought Gina’s cookbook and am having so much fun picking out different recipes each week. The latest favorite at our house was the So-Addicting Chicken Enchiladas. They have a homemade enchilada sauce which is so delicious and the recipe uses healthy alternatives such as whole wheat tortillas and low fat cheese.
Safeway selling local brands such as Nellie’s eggs.
I first started seeing commercials for Nellie’s free range eggs a few weeks ago. And then noticed them at my local Safeway last week. I always try to buy organic free range eggs and was very pleased that I could also support a local brand. Even though ‘local’ usually still means out of state, gotta support the little guys. And since we easily go through a carton of eggs a week, I will be back for more.
Around the Web:
Interesting reads: How to have a great Poop Every time. Please tell me my friends aren’t the only ones that sit around and talk about poop. Here’s a list of foods that help keep your digestive system working properly.
Are these Popular Diets Right for you or are they too Restrictive? I don’t eat vegan or paleo, I just try to eat as clean as possibly with a few treats. But these two diets are extremely popular now and this article breaks each of them down.
Workouts: A Killer Spinning Workout. After trying Flywheel (find my full review of this spin class here: Flywheel Class Review) I realized I really need to increase the intensity of my bike workouts and hope to give this one a try.
Hips and Thighs Yoga Flow. This has been my go to yoga workout on Sundays since I always seem to feel really tight in my upper legs. It’s only 30 minutes and I feel so flexible and refreshed after.
Recipes: Pizza is probably my biggest weakness and favorite comfort food. So this week when I came across these two healthy alternatives I cannot wait to give them a try! Crockpot Pizza Quinoa and Skinny Pizza Pasta Casserole.
What are you loving this week?
Any fun plans for the weekend?
