Happy Monday. Another nice but quick weekend. We started feeling the Winter air here in southern MD with temperatures barely making it out of the 50’s. I was all about blankets and warm beverages all weekend. I’m so not ready for the cold, but loving seeing everyone in the holiday spirit. We have yet to do much holiday shopping but be sure to check out my Gift Guide for the Fitness Lover in your life. Last weekend we got our tree up and house decorated so it was nice to spend some time at home in all the coziness.
Pizza and Doughnut Date Night
Friday night my husband and I decided to head into Old Town Alexandria for dinner. I love all the decorations and lights in Old Town and really wanted to enjoy the scenery and it sure helped put me in the holiday spirit.
We ate at Redrocks Neapolitan Bistro and ordered red wine and the meatballs to start.
And shared two pizzas, one with mozzarella, pepperoni and roasted red peppers and the other with burrata cheese, mushrooms, and arugula. Both were delicious. I just love brick oven pizzas, they have such a great flavor to the crust.
Because all date nights need dessert we stopped at Sugar Shack Doughnuts and shared a chocolate with chocolate chips, caramel, and a peppermint doughnut. Sweet ending to a nice night out.
Cardio & Strength Workout and Saturday To Do’s
Saturday morning I was up early to get to the gym for some Treadmill Intervals and then to a BodyPump class. I hadn’t been to class in a few weeks so I didn’t use my normal weight for all the tracks. And I was still feeling pretty sore Sunday.
After the gym I headed home for breakfast and then went out later to run a few errands and pick up the essentials from the grocery store for the week. Then I used the rest of the afternoon to do some meal prepping, hard boiled eggs, steel cut oats, energy bites, and apple slices. And I made a batch of healthier white chocolate cranberry cookies I plan on sharing with you later this week.
For dinner we had leftover BBQ Turkey Meatballs from the freezer and I made a Skinny Broccoli Mac and Cheese from the Skinnytaste Cookbook while watching college football. Well after a glass of wine I feel asleep around 9:30, party animal, lol.
Brunch, Shopping, and Yoga
Sunday we got to enjoy some much needed rest with no alarm waking us up. Once we were up I made these Protein Pancakes with Vega One Protein before heading out for a Sam’s Club trip to help restock the concession stand at my husbands high school. Did you see our two carts on my Instagram Story? Full of candy, chips, nacho cheese, and hot dog buns, definitely not my typical shopping trip! Then we stopped for lunch at Panera. I got the new Chipotle Avocado Chicken Melt and the Butternut Squash soup, both were delicious and filling.

When we got home I did a few things around the house, laundry, cleaning, and started this Chicken Tandoori recipe in the crockpot. Then did some work and a yoga video on Beachbody On Demand before finishing dinner. Chicken, roasted potatoes, and asparagus and leftovers will be on my salads for the week.
The rest of Sunday night was spend relaxing on the couch catching up on the DVR. Real Housewives and Vanderpump Rules anyone? Totally my guilty pleasures.
