It seems like every Monday I’m more and more surprised by how fast the weekend goes.  Especially this time of year with all the holiday parties, shopping, decorating, and baking to do.  I hope you had some time to enjoy in some holiday festivities like I did this weekend, lets get to all the highlights.

Friday morning I was up for my usual 5 a.m. workout and finished Week 12 of the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide program.  Even though I started at Week 7 it felt super nice to feel like I accomplished something.  I enjoyed the workouts, and don’t have weeks 13-24 so I am now looking forward to doing more Beachbody On Demand Videos like 21 Day Fix Extreme, T25, and Insanity Max 30 through the Winter months.

After work on Friday I went to a work Holiday party.  I didn’t stay too long and didn’t take any photos (opps) but enjoyed some good conversation, watched a white elephant gift exchange, and ate yummy BBQ food from Urban Bar-B-Que.  I made these Peppermint Mocha Cupcakes to bring and enjoyed as dessert before heading home for an early bedtime.

Gym time, Football, and a Holiday Party

Saturday I was up to head to the gym for some Treadmill Intervals followed by BodyPump class. If I don’t head into DC for a Flywheel spin class this is my second favorite workout to kick start the weekend.  After some cardio and strength training it was time to head home for a recovery shake, coffee, and time surf the web and cookbooks to meal plan.

After hitting the grocery store I went up to watch Tom’s All Star Football game.  A game where  seniors from all around MD can play as an extra chance to get noticed by some college recruits.  The game started at 2:00 and by the time the sun set at halftime I was WAY to cold to stay any longer.  So I headed home to get ready for a Holiday Party that evening.

I overflowed some of the Peppermint Mocha Cupcakes I made for Friday’s Holiday Party and was originally planning to bring some to another gathering Saturday night.  So with a cupcake fail and not a lot of time I quickly whipped up a White Chocolate Peppermint Crunch Puppy Chow, because you can never go wrong with that chocolate and Chex combo.  Usually I’m all about baking, but sometimes love the simple desserts.

Saturday night we enjoyed wine, good food, and company at one of our close friends houses.  We got half a group picture as the boys hung out in the basement or ‘pub’ most of the night.

Brunch, Yoga, and Sunday To Do’s

Sunday morning we had a little sleep in.  Then got ready to go to brunch together at Silver Diner as I had a complimentary entree coupon that was going to expire.  Can’t let something like that go to waste!  I had a veggie and chicken sausage omelet with goat cheese, toast, and a side of home fries.  I love that Silver Diner supports local meat and produce businesses and has many organic and gluten free options on their menu.

Then we headed to Target to do monthly trip of all the food and paper products I prefer buying there than the grocery store.  Target is just convenient for us as it’s down the street but we’ve been considering a Costco Membership, any thoughts?

Then it was home for some meal prep, laundry, cleaning, and I squeezed in a 40 minute yoga session.  Until it was time to warm up with some Chili for dinner and snack on some Muddy Biddies while catching up on my Bravo TV.  And that’s a wrap for the weekend.

Menu for the Week

Since we have no leftovers in the freezer for the week I thought I’d also share this weeks Menu.  On busy nights I do easy dinners, others I know I have more time to cook, but here’s what we’re having this week:

Monday:  Sheet Pan Chicken and Veggies  // Tuesday:  Cashew Chicken // Wednesday:  Brinner, no recipe just eggs, roasted veggies & sweet potatoes, and bacon, delicious combo.  Thursday:  Bolognese Sauce with Zoodles.  And Friday and Saturday are up in the air as I’m not sure what our weekend plans are yet.

Thanks to Meghan and Katie for today’s link up.  You can read previous Weekend Highlights here.

Great dessert save! I love puppy chow, and white chocolate pepperment puppy chow sounds awesome. Yoga, brunch, time with friends, being productive…what a lovely weekend. The highlight of my weekend was watching a movie on Saturday night with my parents 🙂

We were just talking about how we haven’t watched a movie in awhile, so we scheduled one for next weekend. Crazy as an adult these things need to be planned, UH!

Only problem is it’s impossible to eat a handful. I ate a popcorn sized serving last night, opps!

Looks like such a fun weekend! I’m all about Target..I’ve actually never been to a Costco before! I have a Sam’s Club membership though, and I heard that paper products were the worst thing to get at a wholesale club. Not worth the price apparently 🙂

This is good to know, because paper products would be one main thing I would get. Maybe I’ll just stick to Target for the convenience.

I need to make a meal plan; hopefully we’ll have some thing Mexican and soup! 🙂

And that White Chocolate puppy chow? WOW! 🙂 Today I’m just so grateful to be alive and for God’s grace and mercy and that Jesus Christ is the reason for this wonderful season.

Oh that sounds delicious! I love anything Mexican and a plus if I can make it in the crockpot. And boo for no more BodyPump. I’m lucky my gym membership is super affordable because it’s through work, I know some gyms can be soooo pricy!

I’ve been meaning to make puppy chow for so long now and this puts me over the top. We have a costco membership and I definitely think it is worth it! Since I get most of my staples there, I usually once need fresh produce and some meat at the grocery store!

      December 12, 2016 at 6:22 pm (6 years ago)

That’s what I was thinking of doing at Costco since I buy my staples at Target, but wonder if they’re cheaper there. And you NEED to make some puppy chow. And good luck not eating a giant bowl of it, lol.

As always – what a fantasy of a weekend! You are really get in your share of festive Christmas parties. Awesome!! I’ve never been to a Costco but am dying to see what all the hype is about. I’ve also always wanted to make puppy chow. Maybe that’s what I’ll make for a couple gifts I still have to figure out… Hmmm

OH puppy chow would be a cute little gift idea in little plastic Christmas bags. I actually think I did that for friends one year. I love the traditional puppy chow with chocolate and PB, but this was a great festive alternative.

If the puppy chow has cereal, and cereal is a breakfast food, that means that I can have it for breakfast, right?
    Thought so!

Target all the way! BUT, we don’t have a Costco near us so that’s a hard call. They are so different! I could spend hours wandering around Target…and do, ha! Your meal plan sounds delicious! We are out of town this weekend but I’m for sure having poppyseed chicken one night!

      December 13, 2016 at 12:13 pm (6 years ago)

I know I love all the cute home accessories at Target, so I would still always shop there. And oh poppyseed chicken sounds delicious!

As a Mom I spend way too much time at Target!

Tonight we are making a new Tilapia Picatta recipe, I’m excited to see how it turns out!

Oh I can’t even imagine, I feel like Mom’s are in there at least once a week. And oh I love picatta, but never tried it with tilapia, sounds delicious!

So many holiday parties! It sounds like your weekend was the perfect blend of parties, brunch and workouts, and I bet the failed cupcakes were still edible. I wouldn’t kick the puppy chow out of bed though either.

Happy Monday and thanks for linking up.

Weekends are always busy before the holidays, then January hits and I finally get to hit my Netflix list. And oh yes cupcakes were still edible, they just had that crispy top which I HATE. My husband was very confused on why I was so upset and called them a fail, lol.

Hope you enjoyed your BodyPump class. 🙂 I loved BodyPump, but it’s no longer a part of my exercise, since my student rec is such a good price and has other good group fitness options. Still slightly jealous.
I know about cupcake fails. Boy, do I know about cupcake fails. 😛 I empathize. Still, that peppermint puppy chow does look pretty damn delicious!

Cupcakes are cakes truly are one of the most difficult things to bake completely right. Or maybe cheesecake. Regardless I wasn’t complaining as I the white chocolate and peppermint in the puppy chow was the perfect combo.

I have 4 kids, so Costco is a weekly trip for me. I love it though for key items and the prices can’t be beat when you are feeding an army 😉
That puppy chow…OMG, I need to make that, like ASAP!

Yes I feel like when we have a family we’ll be Costco all the way, but without them I’m so torn. I like saving money buy enjoy not having to make a million different store trips.

MMM I love puppy chow!!! Cant go wrong with that combo! I’ve never heard a bad thing about costco but i havent tried a membership place out myself yet. I usually stick to Target for paper products and cleaning products too. I think when I have kids, I’d definitely do one of those membership places so i could really stock up!

      December 13, 2016 at 12:18 pm (6 years ago)

This is exactly what I was thinking, I think wholesale makes sense for families. But same, people always rave about Costco so I’m just curious what all the buzz is about!

I’m definitely a Target person because we don’t have a Costco around. I usually buy all the fun adult stuff there or Walmart, whichever place I’m near. I love Puppy Chow and that recipe looks dynamite! Peppermint is perfect this time of year, I’d say the cupcake fail turned into a win in a big way!

I probably only eat peppermint around the holidays so it was the perfect treat!
