Happy Hump Day! I literally cannot believe it’s already May and Summer is only a few short weeks away. If you haven’t started thinking about getting in shape for the Summer NOW is definitely the time. I usually keep a pretty consistent workout routine during the Winter months, but once the weather starts getting warmer I always feel more motivated. It’s also helpful when you have a workout partner. When my sister visited a few weeks ago we spent some of our time together sweating it out and creating a few great workouts for me to share with you in the upcoming months. Today’s workout is a Quick and Sweaty Partner Ab routine featuring leggings and crop tops from Chill by Will. Grab a friend, mat, water, and a light weight and letsget movin’
The only equipment necessary for this workout is a partner and weight. We used a 10 pound slam ball a dumbbell could be used as well. Perform each move for one minute before moving onto the next. For the Leg Throws and Wheelbarrow Walk have each partner do the exercise for one minute. Try to complete three to five rounds for a great workout and for your abs to be on fire! Read below for a description of each exercise.
Russian Twist and Pass: A great exercise for your obliques. In a seated position with your backs together have one partner hold the weight then turn to pass it to the other. Then twist to receive the ball back on the other side. Keep your abs engaged and an extra challenge if you can lift your feet off the ground.
Sit Up and Pass: Have one partner lay down with the weight overhead. Then sit up and pass the weight to the other. The partner without the weight can choose to stay up or go down for an extra sit up. Keep sitting up and passing the weight back and forth.
Leg Throw: Have one partner lay with their legs straight up in the air as the other stands behind them. The partner that’s standing will throw the others legs towards the ground as the partner laying tries to keep their legs about six inches from the ground before brining them back up to be tossed again. Be sure to keep your lower back towards the ground to really engage your abs.
Partner High Fives: Face towards each other in a high plank position. Then continuously high five opposite arms trying to keep your hips still.
Wheelbarrow: I hope you played this as a child, just wait till you try it as an adult. It’s so much harder! Have one partner begin in a high plank position as the other grabs their feet or ankles. Have the partner with their hands on the ground begin to move forwards with their hands as the standing partner follows behind.
