Happy Happy Friday! Even as a teacher on Summer vacation we still get excited for the weekends. And this Sunday is Father’s Day! Since my family lives in Ohio I actually won’t see my dad until his visit next weekend, so we’ll celebrate then. But I thought it’d be appropriate to share to do a Friday Favorites Father’s Day Edition on the blog today. From gifts to recipes I got you covered on how to make a special day for Dad.
Masterbuilt Electric Smoker
Now my husband isn’t a Dad, unless being a dog dad counts (which we’re pretending it does this weekend), but the greatest gift I ever got him was this Masterbuilt Electric Smoker. We have gotten our money’s worth and he’s only had it since December. Tom’s smoked chicken, ribs, and pork all of which have been delicious. We have always been master grillers so it’s been fun to learn a new method to cook our protein and I know Dad would enjoy it as well.
Fitbit Alta HR
The new Fitbit Alta is slim wristband with heart rate monitor, sleep tracker, and more. I always love gifting my dad the latest technology trends, even though it takes him almost a year to learn how to use them, hehe.
What I Love About Dad Journal
I saw this What I Love About Dad Journal on another bloggers gift guide and think it’s such an adorable idea, especially if you have young kids to fill it out. They also have several different versions for any family member or loved one in your life.
Cook Dad a Special Meal
Growing up we always celebrated Mother’s Day with a special brunch and Father’s Day with cooking out. I’m sure Dad loves some good BBQ food, steaks, burgers, or hot dogs. Pair any of these with my Mediterranean Chickpea Salad.
And if your Dad is like mine and my husband, they love their desserts! Last weekend I made these S’mores Brownies and brought them to a cookout. A graham cracker layer, brownie layer, and topped with marshmallows, so YUM!
Spend Time with Dad
I am all about creating memories on holidays instead of purchasing gifts. Go for a hike, play golf or tennis together, plan a date night, do a beer or wine tasting, surprise him with concert or sporting event tickets, or plan Dad a guys day out. The last time my Dad visited we decided to take his love of pastry to the next level and took him to get his first beignet.
Happy Father’s Day weekend to all the Dad’s out there. Hope you your day is as special as you are. Love you Dad!
