Hello friends and welcome to the blog on this lovely Friday.  Did you have a good 4th of July celebration and hopefully a short work week?  Even if it was short I’m sure you’re ready for the weekend.  Not too much on our weekend agenda, probably some good workouts and maybe meals at home as we have been out to eat a bit already during the week.  Follow along on Instagram.  But for now let’s get to all the things I’ve been loving lately including our 4th celebration, Vital Proteins, new snacks, and other Friday Favorites.

Don’t forget to enter to win a FREE Day Pass to ROAM Fitness over on my Instagram.  Especially if you know you might be flying in or out of Baltimore, their first location.  And read about my experience at ROAM Fitness here.

Crabby Hog

We usually aren’t in town during the 4th of July weekend, but since we stayed home this year we decided to check out some of the local celebrations.  During the day Tom and I just hung out by the community pool reading and dipping in to cool off.  Then in the early evening we headed over to the Charles County Fairgrounds where they would later be putting on a fireworks display.  We decided to eat there and people watch until the show.  We ate at The Crabby Hog food truck which has crab cakes and BBQ.  Their famous sandwich is a crab cake with BBQ pulled pork and slaw on it.  I of course had to try the specialty and it did not disappoint!  Ever since moving to southern MD I’ve been obsessed with crab cakes and BBQ and this was some of the best.

Then we HAD to get some ice cream as we sat and waited for the Fireworks show.  I’m typically a soft serve lover, but lately really been loving the local creameries hand dipped ice cream.  So much better than anything you buy in the store!  And overall a great way to spend the holiday.

Vital Proteins

Vital Proteins was kind enough to send me a few products to try for myself.  Vital Proteins is know for their Collagen Peptides and have since come out with several new collagen products.  Collagen has been known to help clear skin and hair and nail growth.  It’s also packed with protein and probiotics for gut health.  I will be featuring a recipe using their Collagen Whey Cocoa & Coconut next week and I will have a little giveaway for you as well, so be sure to come back!

Micellar Water

Last time my sister visited she left me with a bottle of Micellar Cleansing Water.  While I’m still a huge fan of my Rodan + Fields Regimen I have been using the Simple Micellar Cleansing Water to get rid of my make up at night.  I like the idea of knowing I go to bed each night with a completely clear face as micellar water is known for gently lifting make up and impurities in your skin out and boosting its hydration.

Biena Chickpea Snacks

I won an Instagram giveaway and was sent all different flavors of Biena Roasted Chickpea Snacks.  I love adding these to charcuterie boards, salads, or just eating by themselves when craving a crunchy snack.  I haven’t tried all the flavors yet, but usually I’m a fan of just plain sea salt, boring I know.

I know I have a serious sweet tooth, but I I don’t really like when sugar is sneaked into a lot of my foods.  Here are 12 Incredibly Easy Ways to Quit Sugar.  I would rather save all my sugar intake for a cupcake on the weekend than eat it in a hidden packaged food or condiment.  READ your labels friends!

BRAIN FOG, my husband and I talk about this all the time, especially after a night of sipping on a few drinks.  Sometimes I get brain fog even with 8+ hours of sleep and no alcohol the night before.  So I’m eager to try some of these Smoothie Add Ins to Fight Brain Fog.

This Cheesecake Factory Celebration Cake, NEED! Oh wait I just told you to quit sugar, UH!  Sorry.

Yes if you haven’t tried Vital Proteins yet I HIGHLY suggest it. You can add the collagen peptides even just to your morning coffee. And you get all the healthy benefits and protein.

Ice cream and barbecue sound like a perfect thing for the Fourth! And pool time. Slightly jealous of that. 😉 Glad to hear you had a relaxing holiday.

I’ve really been trying to take advantage of the fact that we live in a neighborhood with a pool. It’s definitely super nice to have.

Yes you should definitely try the snacks, you can make roasted chickpeas your self, but I’d rather just purchase them for convenience. Hope you had a great weekend as well Jenna!

How do you use it, in a smoothie or in your coffee? Trying to decide which I prefer.

I use Further Food Collagen Peptides and like it a lot. But I’ve also heard great things about Vital Proteins too.

I’ve never heard about micellar water. I don’t use a lot of makeup but still want to clean my face at night, especially with the hot summer days.

I’ve heard good things about further food too. How do you use it in smoothies or in coffee? And you should def give micellar water a try, I feel like my face is so clean after using it.

Oh nice, I’ve tried and like both. I usually have coffee and a smoothie every morning, so I guess it’ll end up in one of them depending on my mood, lol.

So much love for ice cream right now? Is the Collagen Whey Cocoa & Coconut good and chocolate tasting or weaker tasting?

It’s not super chocolatey tasting. I’ve added a tbsp of cocoa powder to some things when using it. But I loved it by itself when I made an energy bite recipe I’m posting this week 😉

It was SO creamy! I like can’t eat ice cream from a carton anymore because we’ve been spoiled by such good dairy farm ice cream.
