Hello and happy 4th weekend! I hope you all in the US get to enjoy a few extra days off to celebrate Independence Day tomorrow. My weekend was full of good workouts and delicious food so lets get to all the weekend highlights.

Friday night was pretty uneventful, I made some salmon cakes and then settled on the couch with a glass of red to watch the series finale of Pretty Little Liars. I’ve been obsessed with the show since it started and have watched all 7 years so I’m extremely sad to see it come to an end. Andddd I was also kinda disappointed with the finale, I won’t spoil anything though. But if you’re a fan of the show share your thoughts in the comments.

Saturday morning I was up early to head to the local gym to co-teach the Bodypump 102 release. I totally failed at remembering to take a picture of all of us. I really like the 102 tracks, and always have a favorite. In this release it’s the Back track, I just love the song and how you move to the music. Plus it’s pretty challenging.

After Bodypump I headed home to get showered up and eat breakfast then walked over to our community pool to meet up with two friends and former co workers. We surprisingly had the pool to ourselves for a little while. It was a quite and relaxing afternoon, even though I got a little burnt, UH!

When it was dinner time Tom and I decided to head out for the night and enjoy food and drinks at Casey Jones Restaurant.

We opted for cocktails instead of our usual wine and beer, which were tasty and refreshing on a hot day.

I had the grouper with crab and tomato, asparagus and parmesan risotto. It was super tasty! We then headed home to catch up on some shows on the DVR.

Sunday morning I made us a good breakfast of scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, and Ozery Bakery Muesli Morning Rounds because we had plans to head out for a long hike up in Great Falls MD.

After hearing great things about it I wanted to hike the Billy Goat Trail which is along the Potomac River. It’s also a pretty challenging hike because it’s mostly rock climbing. Two hours later we had hiked the 2.5 mile Billy Goat A Trail and decided to go out to the toe path and have an easy walk back to the car along the canal.

After showers and a nap when we got home I got enough energy to make us some grass-fed burgers, fries, and veggies for dinner. I almost caved in to the desire of ordering takeaway from one of the best restaurants Roanoke or other nearby places, but I decided since I have the supplies at home, why not make a quick meal instead. Then I passed out pretty early on the couch because dang that hike really wore me out!

Hope you all had a great weekend and get time to enjoy the holiday!

Jealous of both the hike and the body pump! The Potomac looks like a beautiful place to get to be outside. 🙂

Yay for hiking. I always get worried it’ll be too hot here in southern MD for hikes in the summer, but they usually provide enough shady spots.

It really was, I ate and drank enough to balance it all out though. Happy 4th Julie!

Wow, what a beautiful hike. It’s so nice to have places like that close by. I love having the metro parks and the valley nearby.

Cocktails in the summertime are so refreshing. Also so is having some netflix/DVR and chill nights. We need those to recharge after all the socializing.

I was talking to my husband about the metro parks on our hike. I remember biking 20 some miles through them, the trails are so long!

Those views are incredible. The solitary of the wildness feels refreshing. Glad you had a great weekend!

It was a beautiful hike, not really relaxing because of the difficulty level. But I enjoyed stopping to take in all the views. Do you know of any other good hiking spots in our area?

Gorgeous hike! I used to live near a trail like that and it was always nice going out there whenever I felt like it. Not so much anymore…it’s all flat land here.

We have mostly flat hikes in our town area, so we had to drive a bit for this one. But it was so worth it.
