Fresh fall fruit, spices, and protein make this Fall Green Pear Smoothie the perfect post workout or meal replacement to help you fuel through the day.
It doesn’t matter if it’s 30 or 90 degrees outside, I will still sip on and enjoy a smoothie every morning all year long. It’s my favorite breakfast and way to start my day. Typically I make a smoothie after my morning workout so I add Shakeology and Collagen. And I love adding seasonal fruit. During the summer I was all about peaches, strawberries, and cherries, but now that it’s officially Fall I have been enjoying adding apples, pumpkin, blueberries, or pears to my smoothies.
There are many different ways to use pears in a smoothie, I learned a ton of new recipe ideas when my husband and I did a Green Smoothie Challenge through Simple Green Smoothies last year. During the month long challenge, each week Simple Green Smoothies sends you an email with different recipes and a shopping list for the week.
And the best part of the challenge is it’s totally FREE! I would highly recommend taking the challenge to anyone looking to find new recipes or anyone that wants to consistently start drinking a green smoothie. But today is all about on of my personal Fall favorites. I love this combination of pear, cinnamon, and almond butter in the recipe, To me it tastes like Fall in a glass.
This past weekend I woke up on Sunday and did a quick 30 minute yoga video, and quickly made and drank this smoothie before driving into Arlington to watch my sister and future brother in-law finish the Marine Corps Marathon. Did you follow along on Instagram? They both finished with personal records of 3:12 and 3:28 and my sister reached her goal of qualifying for Boston. So proud of both of them!
After they were a bit recovered and showered from the race they picked Cava Grill as their post run meal and I was totally on board! I made a half greens half grains bowl with white rice and superfood greens. I picked crazy feta, roasted red pepper hummus, and harissa as my three dips. Then you get unlimted toppings and a dressing. So YUM! I was so full after this meal all I ate for dinner was some Halloween candy, yes I am in the small group of people that love candy corn!
After the sugar high from all the candy this Green Pear Smoothie is exactly what my body needs this week. Hope you enjoy it 🙂
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 cup (about a handful) spinach
- 1 medium pear halved and cored
- 2 tsp almond butter
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 scoop vanilla protein (optional)
- half a frozen banana or a handful of ice
- Place all the ingredients in a high powered blender. Blend until smooth. Sip and enjoy immediately.
For a blender I love and use my Vitamix daily, probably one of my favorite wedding presents.
