This White Chocolate Peppermint Puppy Chow is the perfect seasonal snack, gift, or dessert. Made with just a few simple ingredients that can be found at your local ALDI store.
Christmas is only a few days away! While you all know I’m a huge fan of baking homemade desserts, often around this time of year with holiday parties and traveling I need a dessert or side dish I can whip up quickly. This White Chocolate peppermint Puppy Chow is only a few ingredients and deliciously addictive! And the best part is I found all the ingredients for this holiday dessert for a lower price at my local ALDI store.
The last few times I’ve shopped at ALDI I’ve been amazed by the high quality of products and lower prices. I’ve found fresh award-winning salmon, organic grass-fed ground beef, nitrate free sausages and bacon in the meat department. A variety of fresh produce. Artisan cheeses, mixed nuts, and gluten-free snacks just to name a few of my favorite things. They even have holiday decor, gift bags, and stocking stuffers. ALDI is a one stop shop for all your holiday needs.
Now how to make this White Chocolate Peppermint Puppy Chow. Since my childhood I have been obsessed with making the traditional muddy buddies and am always looking to make it a seasonal treat. It’s the best combination of sweet, salty, and crunch. And it’s perfect to serve at parties or to wrap and hand out as gifts.
I love mixing the rice squares with popcorn, because who doesn’t like popcorn, right! This would also be great with pretzels or a mix of rice and corn squares. Many different variations.
All you need to do is melt the Almond Bark or White Chocolate and mix with the cereal and crushed candy canes.
Then add the cereal mix to a zipped-top bag(s) with powdered sugar, I use two separate bags. And shake shake shake.
And that is how you make a simple and delicious holiday treat in under 10 minutes that I’m sure the whole family will enjoy.
- 8 cups Millville rice squares
- 6 cups SimplyNautre organicpopcorn
- 24 oz Baker’s CornerAlmond Bark or white melting chocolate
- 3 cups Baker’s Corner powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 cups crushed candy canes
- Pour the cereal and popcorn into a large bowl.
- Melt the almond bark or white chocolate according to the package directions.
- Pour melted chocolate over the cereal and toss to coat. Add and toss in the crushed candy canes.
- Divide powdered sugar into two zipped-top bags (1 1/2 cups in each bag)
- Divide cereal mix into the two zipped-top bags and shake to coat in powdered sugar.
- Pour bag into a large bowl and enjoy!

December 21, 2017 at 2:39 pm (5 years ago)This is actually perfect! My boyfriend is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, so I was actually just lamenting how I couldn’t make puppy chow. This is a great solution 🙂

December 22, 2017 at 1:40 pm (5 years ago)I dunno if it is or not. I know they now sell it pre made in stores, but I’m sure the quick homemade version is SOOOO much better!
