Hello friends! Hope you’re having a great week and thanks for stopping by the blog today to celebrate Sweet and Strong’s 3rd Birthday. To celebrate I’m talking a bit about why I started blogging and have a GIVEAWAY from Vital Proteins at the end of the post. In case you missed some of this years highlights you can find reader top posts here and my personal favorite recipes, workouts, and lifestyle tip posts from the past year here.
I can’t believe that around 3 years ago my little sister convinced me to start sharing my healthy lifestyle journey on the internet for everyone to read. For those that know me well, know I’m an introvert and usually a very quiet person. So being open and sharing my life with everyone at first seemed absolutely terrifying.
But my desire to help and inspire others is stronger than wanting to hold everything in. Before starting Sweet and Strong I had a difficult time establishing a healthy relationship with food and working out. My senior year of high school I started exercising and making healthier food choices after sports season had ended and I lost some of the weight that always made me feel self conscious. In college I continued to explore different workouts and always wanted to eat all the right foods so I wouldn’t gain the weight back.
A year after starting working in the real world I was in an accident and for months wasn’t able to do so many of the things I loved. After a long, emotional, and physically demanding recovery I knew never to take my health for granted. And I became very interested in learning about the health and fitness field.
A few years ago when ‘fad’ diets started to be all the rage I wanted to share with others that you don’t have to label your diet to live a healthy lifestyle. Yes I eat whole foods and cook for myself most of the time because I enjoy that and these foods make me feel good. But you’ll also see me baking cupcakes, eating ice cream, and pizza, lots and lots of pizza! Those are foods I refuse to live without and I find ways to keep them in my diet through balance. I even try to keep my Instagram profile a great mix of healthy eats, sweet treats, and fitness posts.
All which lead me to create Sweet and Strong. To share my story of eating well without depriving myself of my favorite foods, finding the right workouts, exercising after an injury, and overall creating balance in life.
I hope you have enjoyed following along here on the blog (do you receive email updates for new posts? If not sign up here), on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest (my favorite social channels to share on). And I can’t wait to share so many more recipes, workouts, and healthy lifestyle tips with you this year.
