Hi there! Happy Valentines Day! Are you celebrating tonight or this weekend? We usually like to make a nice dinner together, but I’m visiting my parents in Cleveland the rest of this week so I’m not sure when we’ll celebrate, maybe next weekend. I like the holiday just as a reminder to tell those close to us how much we love them. So I am so very thankful for each of you taking the time to read about my food and fitness adventures here on my blog. I love and appreciate you all for following along so much <3 Now let's get to one of my favorite posts to share, What I Ate Wednesday. This past weekend all it did was rain and rain some more. I had some errands to run on Saturday, but spent Sunday all cozy in the house. Today I’m sharing all the yummy eats from over the rainy weekend.
Saturday morning I did a leg workout at home then refueled with a shake; almond milk, spinach, Vega Greens and Protein (current favorite protein), a banana, and almond butter. I hung out for a bit sipping on coffee then did a few things around the house before driving into the city to meet my sister for lunch.
Before it started raining we were able to walk to Roti Modern Mediterranean Grill in Navy Yard. In case you haven’t noticed I’m obsessed with any restaurant that lets you build your own bowl and Roti did not disappoint.
They use all fresh ingredients and quality meats. The restaurant models the Mediterranean diet rich in vegetables, olive oil, wholesome grains, and lean protein and using bold spices.

Cindy had a bowl with salmon and I had the chicken roti. We both thoroughly enjoyed our bowls and time together.
Then it was a rainy drive back to southern MD for a youth basketball game and some errands. I hate the feeling of being out in the rain so as soon as I got home I changed into my PJ’s for the night and curled up on the couch for a bit reading The Murder on Orient Express.
When it was time for dinner I cooked up a batch of my favorite Turkey Chili. I never really follow a recipe but it at least always tastes delicious. I use one lean and one extra lean package of ground turkey, onion, peppers, jalapeno, garlic, beans, corn, tomatoes, and spices. So many different ways you can make chili and it’s one of my favorite cozy meals.
And for dessert I had been wanting to make these heart shaped sugar cookies for Valentines Day, how adorable are they! I don’t love the Necco heart candies, but sugar cookies, yes please!
With the rain Sunday morning we slept in way later than usual. When I was up I decided to do a little yoga before fixing breakfast. I made paleo waffles and used a bit of the new Vital Proteins Sports Blend made with watermelon protein they recently sent me. They tasted ok, a bit dry so I feel like I need to work on the recipe.
Since it felt like we were rained in for the day I went through and cleaned out my closet and dresser drawers. Something I try to do every six months or so. I still have such a hard time parting with certain clothing items, like the top I wore on our first date. Am I the only one that’s like this?
Soon I was hungry for lunch so I warmed up some leftover Banza Chickpea Pasta with marinara and arugula. Such a simple and delicious combo.
The rest of the day was the usual Sunday to do’s, laundry, cleaning, meal prep, and a bit of relaxing watching tv on the couch. We just warmed up leftover chili for dinner and ate more cookies for dessert. And we ended the weekend by spicing things up a bit by using something like a ball spreader. Though tired, we then watched This Is Us, or should I say I cried for two straight hours. But I just love the show so much.
