Hi friends! How is your week going? I was really hoping daylight savings would bring some warmer temperatures along with the longer days, but we’re still waiting for that here on the east coast. Uh, but enough about the weather, I have some delicious eats to share with you today for What I Ate Wednesday. Oh but before I get to it, going to lightly drop the fact that tomorrow I’m turning the big 3-0 and saying goodbye to my 20’s, ah! I’m actually excited about it and feel like I have so much to look forward to in my thirties. I’ll be taking a break from the blog until next week, but be sure to follow along on Instagram.
Workout and Protein Shakes
For me there is literally no better way to spend a weekend than with a great workout and some delicious food. This past weekend I went with Tom to his schools gym and he put me through a total body workout. It was like having a personal trainer, I love that I didn’t need to come up with my own plan and had someone to push me to my limits. I lifted heavier than I would have if I were by myself. And seriously who doesn’t love a couples workout?!? He taught me how to properly use the slam ball too, something I’ve always wanted to try.

Post workout I just always crave a shake or smoothie and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Some of my favorite smoothie add in’s for protein have been Vital Proteins plain collagen or even the Matcha Collagen. If just adding protein I’ve been using Vega Protein and Greens or Organifi Complete Protein. I’ve also been making my Mint Chocolate Protein Shake with Organifi Green Juice. Basically whatever protein/fruit combo I’m feeling that day.
Choolaah Indian BBQ
Later Saturday afternoon I made plans to visit Choolaah at their Fairfax location in the Mosaic District. I’ve actually had Choolaah on my restaurants to visit list for a while and was so excited when they reached out offering a complimentary meal for me to share on Instagram.
Upon arriving in Choolaah I was instantly loving the fun vibe. To order you walk up and can either create your own bowl or try one of their signature dishes, wraps, or salads. I decided on the Chicken BBQ, white rice, naan, and chickpea masala with a side of samoas.
After you order you can walk over and see the tandoor ovens that are used to cook the meat kabobs and naan. I love the open kitchen and being able to watch my food being prepared.
Within a few minutes our order was ready, then there are a variety of sauces for you to add to your dish such as mint yogurt, spicy mango, ginger dressing, and choolaah fire just to name a few.
The Mosaic location has indoor and outdoor seating. I enjoyed every bite of this meal and the fact that Choolaah uses fresh ancient clay cooking methods and quality ingredients. While it would be hard to order something different on my next visit I would like to also try the salmon and their Biryani’s. Thanks for the delicious meal Choolaah, HERE you will find more of their locations, menu selections, and more about tandoor cooking methods.
The rest of my eats over the weekend were mainly dishes and snacks that I could use as meal prep:
I made my Massaged Kale Salad, to go with some Harrissa Roast Chicken. My Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Bars and hard-boiled eggs for snacking.
And for dessert, a version of these No Bake Cookie Dough Bars as a healthy treat and the weekend ended with some Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies for #balance.
Thanks for reading the blog today. Have a great rest of your week!Eats from over the weekend including Indian BBQ from @choolaahyum @choolaahmosaic for #WIAWClick To Tweet
