Hello there and Happy Happy Friday to you! I’m so glad it’s the end of the week but can you believe it’s already March? Pretty much the usual plans for the weekend here, good workouts and yummy food. Be sure to follow along on Instagram. In case you’re new to reading the blog every Friday I try to round-up all the things I’ve been loving lately in food, fitness, and life for Friday Favorites, so here we go…..
I’ve teamed up with Foodstirs to give one lucky reader three of their boxed baking mixes such as these Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Brownies, Snickerdoodle Blondies, and Pancake Mix. I shared these in last week’s Friday Favorites as I had just made the brownies and they were so tasty. All their mixes are made with organic and quality ingredients, unlike most boxed baking mixes. And if you don’t consider yourself a baker, no worries. These mixes only require a few more ingredients and you simple mix them all up in a single bowl, add to a baking dish, and bake in the oven.
Now for the GIVEAWAY:

Tom and I decided to celebrate Valentines Day a little late with a night out in Old Town Alexandria. I was craving pizza so we ended up heading to one of our favorite brick oven pizza places, Red Rocks. We started with wine and the meatball appetizer. Then each ordered individual pizzas, the Red Rocks sausage pizza for Tom and pepperoni and mushrooms for me. Both were delicious and totally hit the spot.
And date night just isn’t complete without dessert. Since we were in Old Town we drove over to Sugar Shack, I love that they make fresh donuts throughout the day and are open late, for people like me who have an after dinner sweet tooth. A donut with chocolate frosting and sprinkles is always my go to.
I’ve been on a huge mystery kick with my books lately and am currently reading Final Girls by Riley Sager. I’m only about a quarter of the way through and it’s been hard to put down each night. The story is about girls who were the survivors of different horror movie type massacres and I have a feeling it’s going to have quite a few twists. If you liked Gone Girl or The Couple Next Door I highly suggest it.
Vital Proteins To Go Packets
The last two months I’ve done a bit of traveling between the holidays, our trip to San Antonio, and my visit in Cleveland with my parents. Every trip I’ve taken some Vital Proteins to-go collagen packets with me to add to my morning coffee. Why collagen? I add it to either my coffee or smoothie everyday because collagen has natural protein and it helps supports healthy skin, hair, nails, joints, and gut health. And when traveling we all know we need some extra help in the gut health department, if ya know what I mean. Using either the plain collagen or collagen creamer kept me regular every day while traveling.
Vital Proteins recently released their Matcha Green Tea in stick to-go packets. While I’m usually a coffee drinker I do enjoy an afternoon tea every so often. And love the antioxidants in matcha green tea. The packets are easy to use because you just add them to 8 ounces of warm water or milk, and I add a little honey or stevia to sweeten it.

Make Your Own Protein Bars
In case you missed it here on Sweet and Strong this week I posted a recipe for Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Protein Bars. I get sick of paying almost $2 a bar for store-bought bars and they usually have ingredients I’m not a big fan of which is why I love making my own. The recipe is easy and they taste delicious. I hope you’ll give them a try.
That’s it for me today, I hope you have a great weekend!A @foodstirs #giveaway Date Night and other #FridayfavsClick To Tweet
