Hi there friends! Sorry it’s been a little while. Lately I’ve been working on a few end of the year activities going on at school. I’ve also added teaching another group fitness class to my schedule. Plus I’ve been traveling for bridal showers and have upcoming bachelorettes and weddings to prepare for. So needless to say it’s been a little busy around here, have you kept up on Instagram?!? But no complaints, all exciting things, I am however looking forward to a relaxing weekend.
In case you’re new around here one of my favorite posts on Fridays is to share all things in food, fitness, life, and around the web I’ve been loving lately. You can read previous Friday Favorites posts here.
Blender Bombs Giveaway
I was recently sent a package of Blender Bombs to try. I can’t tell you how many times my kitchen looks like a disaster because I’m trying to add almond butter, seeds, cocoa etc to my smoothie each morning and these blender bombs make smoothie recipes much easier. They are a little ball you simple add to a blender along with fruit, greens, and liquid, then blend and enjoy a delicious smoothie.
I picked the cocoa, almond butter, and coffee blender bombs. The ingredients are all super simple including nuts, seeds, cocoa, cinnamon, honey, coffee, and bee pollen. I blended the BB with some almond milk, spinach and kale, and half a frozen banana.
Many people always tell me they never feel full after a smoothie and these blender bombs definitely help keep you fuller longer and also give you a delicious tasting smoothie. They also come in a variety of different flavors, I also really want to try the Aloe and Collagen BB.
Now For the GIVEAWAY: I’m so excited for you to try Blender Bombs they have offered to give one lucky follower a $25 gift card so you can choose which BB you want to try for yourself. TO ENTER simply follow the instructions in THIS INSTAGRAM POST. I’ll be choosing a winner next week, good luck!
Trip to Ohio
Last Saturday I was up early for a flight to Ohio to celebrate another college bestie’s bridal shower. The shower was at Lindley’s in Columbus and was such a cute restaurant and space. We had a room upstairs and enjoyed drinks, snacks, and desserts while Caitlin opened her gifts.
Does this group photo look familiar, because we did the same thing a few weeks ago for Kelly. I seriously love having reasons to get together with college girlfriends.
Saturday evening we all went out for dinner and drinks. We had appetizers, pizza, and drinks at Forno in downtown Columbus, these strawberry shots were so delicious.
Can you tell we were hungry, no one waited for me to take a pizza photo, lol. But this was some of the best brick oven pizza I’ve ever had.
Visiting Mom and Dad
On Sunday morning I drove back with my girlfriend Jossie to Cleveland so I could spend a few days with my parents. I haven’t talked about it in this blog space, but my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer (again) back in October, since she has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments and will have surgery later this Spring. She is so strong and will make it through this, just hard seeing your parents go through tough times. My sisters and I have been trying to take turns visiting home to help with cooking and things around the house.
While home I helped prepare the sides for a steak dinner my dad grilled. I did steak fry potatoes and roasted some asparagus and mushrooms then added garlic and lemon. It was delicious.
I also made my favorite Chicken and Vegetable Kabob recipe with a side a tzatziki and basmati rice.
And on my last night we made a trip to East Coast Custard, my absolute favorite ice cream.
My mom had also made cancer ribbon cookies for all her doctors and nurses for her last day of chemo. I helped her make the royal icing and decorate each one. They turned out so cute!
Strength Training Group Fitness Class
I was asked to teach a strength training group fitness class for 6 weeks as a part of the gym’s Beachbody Bootcamp. This was the second week and I must say, I enjoy teaching BodyPump, but it has been so fun designing and teaching my own workouts. We’ve been doing a variety of upper and lower body exercises for a total body workout. I plan to share the workouts with you soon as each week I plan to take them through exercise progressions and introduce new movements.
It truly is easier to establish a healthy lifestyle with food and exercise when you have a support group like this.
And that’ll do it for all things I’ve been loving the past week. I hope you have a great weekend!A trip to Ohio, Blender Bombs GIVEAWAY, and other #fridayfavsClick To Tweet
