Do you enjoy eating spoonfuls of cookie dough out of the mixer but want a better for you treat?!? These Healthy Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites are made without refined sugars, flour, or eggs. They are Vegan, Paleo, and Gluten-Free. The perfect dessert to fully satisfy your sweet tooth.
Literally my favorite memories growing up were of baking with my mom in the kitchen, especially when we were making chocolate chip cookies and I got to lick the beaters. Gosh why is raw cookie dough like the greatest thing ever?!? Well, now as an adult you can still find me stealing a bite (or two) of raw cookie dough, especially when I make my Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies. But living that #balanced lifestyle means I don’t let myself indulge in sugary sweets every single night. Most nights I snack on some dark chocolate or another healthier dessert to satisfy my sweet tooth.
After trying out a few healthy cookie dough recipes I finally got the perfect combination of better for you ingredients that truly resembled the taste of raw cookie dough. And the other night when Tom snacked on one of these Cookie Dough Bites for dessert and said, “Wow, these are so good” I knew I had to share them with you #hubbyapproved
Now for the recipe, lets start with the ingredients because you might not have all of these in your pantry, but let me tell you why I stock up on and use each. For starters all these ingredients are not refined. Traditional white flour and sugar are refined which means they’re processed and lack nutrients. To replace these I use almond flour, coconut flour, maple syrup, and coconut sugar which are all raw ingredients not stripped of their nutrients. Our bodies also find them easier to digest. They can all be found at your local grocery store either in the health food or baking section. I also find them a bit cheaper at Target.
You will also need cashew butter and coconut oil or ghee. These are all healthy fats, an essential part of our diet and used in replace of regular butter and eggs for the cookie dough. Cashew butter is found with all the nut butters in any grocery store. And coconut oil and ghee with the olive oils.
Lastly you can choose your favorite mini chocolate chips. I’ve been finding Enjoy Life Chips on sale at Whole Foods or Target and I like them because they’re made with simple ingredients and free of several allergens.

I don’t like to define my diet, but with all these ingredients it does make the recipe Vegan (if using coconut oil), Paleo, and Gluten-Free. I often do eat meals with these labels, but my diet is not restricted to just one. You’ll still find me on Instagram eating pizza and ice cream almost once a week.
Now to make the bites all you need to do is combine all the ingredients in a medium bowl then roll about one tablespoon of dough into balls. I find it usually makes between 20-24 cookie dough bites.
I typically eat two of these for dessert to satisfy my sweet tooth. Even though they are considered a ‘healthier’ dessert, it doesn’t mean you can eat the entire bowl. Now it’s time for you to go and make a batch, enjoy 🙂
- 1 cup almond flour
- ½ cup coconut flour
- ¼ cup coconut sugar
- ½ cup cashew butter
- ¼ cup ghee or coconut oil melted and cooled
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ⅓ cup mini chocolate chips
- In a medium bowl combine all the ingredients except the chocolate chips. Mix well until the dough starts to come together, I find it best to use my hands or a spatula.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Measure one tablespoon of dough and roll into a ball, and repeat. Makes about 20-24 cookie dough balls.
- Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
