Hello and Happy Happy Friday to you! Busy weekend over here as tonight Tom has an away Football game and then early Saturday morning I’m off to Columbus, OH to visit my college girlfriends for the Buckeye game. It’ll be a fast but fun weekend, follow along on Instagram.
I figured it’s been awhile since I’ve shared all the things in food and fitness I’ve been loving lately, today’s Friday Favorites include Protein Bars and Mac and Cheese, YUM! Let’s get right to it!
Banza Pasta Mac and Cheese
Banza Pasta is my absolute favorite Chickpea Pasta. It’s gluten-free and made with chickpeas (obviously) so it’s packed with more protein and fewer carbs than traditional pasta. And just this week Banza Pasta released four different kinds of Mac and Cheese. I’ve only had a chance to try the cheddar that were delicious. We had it for dinner last night with some steamed broccoli and crushed red pepper, one of my favorite combos! And I can’t wait to try the other flavors.
The Mac and Cheese is made with a traditional cheese packet and you add milk and butter, so it’s not vegan or dairy-free. The ingredients are so-so, but in my opinion, a much healthier choice than most boxed Mac and Cheese’s out there. I’ve seen Banza sold in most health food stores and Target, you can also order it on Amazon.
I know I’ve shared my love of RX Bars in previous Friday Favorites but lately they have been savinggggg me on Friday nights when I go to Tom’s football games. Right before I snack on one bar and add a little extra almond butter. And it helps keep me full until I can come home and reheat some leftovers for dinner around 9:00 p.m. after the game.
I love RX Bars for the protein and clean ingredients. Blueberry has been my favorite flavor lately, but they make quite a variety now. And have also just released new Nut Butters (which I haven’t tried yet). I’ve seen RX Bars in my local grocery store, Target, and of course health food stores, they can also be purchased on Amazon.
90% of the time I’d totally rather go on a lunch date than dinner date. I’ve gotten to dine out with my sister and the hubs a few times over the last few weeks. And since these meals don’t make it into my Food and Fitness Week in Review’s I thought I’d share them with you today 🙂
We don’t have a ton of healthier dining options in our area unless I venture into the city, so Tom and I usually eat lunch at Panera so I can get a giant salad. I’ve been obsessed with their Green Goddess Chicken Salad with avocado, bacon, eggs, chicken, tomato, and green goddess dressing, perfect combo!
A local diner by us, Marie’s had to close to go through some renovations after a car veered off the road and ran into it, crazy right. So one morning we stopped in for breakfast/brunch to help support them. I had a veggie omelet with potatoes and wheat toast.
One weekend I did venture into DC to meet my sister for lunch and we walked to Navy Yard and made our own mediterranean bowls at Roti. So many options I think I put just about everything in my chicken, salad, and rice bowl.
It is a very rare occasion that I get all dressed up, but this past weekend we had a Fall wedding and I had to share this dress with you because I want it in EVERY color! It comes in long sleeve and sleeveless. I own the sleeveless in black. It’s just a comfy t-shirt material but can easily be dressed up and styled several different ways. ALSO obsessed with Suz’s dress from the wedding 🙂
On Sweet and Strong
In case you missed it I have been posting our weekly dinner menu and my workouts in my Food and Fitness Week in Reviews. I highly suggest looking through them if you want some meal or workout inspiration.
That’ll do it for me today. I hope you have a great weekend!
