Happy Happy Friday!  Hope you had a great week and are ready to start the weekend!  Latest news over here is we’ve reached a milestone and I am 6 weeks postpartum, YAY!  After visiting the doctor this week, everything has returned to normal and I’ve been given the go ahead to start some workouts.  I’m definitely going to start with some easy bodyweight exercises, light weights, low impact, and stretches along with my long walks, but am so excited to get back into it.  So stay tuned for more Food and Fitness Week in Review posts.  Other than that not a whole lot of baby talk today because I have some foodie finds to share with you; spice blends, REAL Food Bars, plus a giveaway at the end of this post along with other Friday Favorites.

Litehouse Spices

I first tried Litehouse salad dressings when I did this post of my Fall Harvest Salad Bowls with their Balsamic Vinaigrette.  And they now make some unique herbs and blends.  Their herbs are freeze dried for optimal freshness.  They have a nice variety, you can view and find out where to buy here.  I was recently sent the freeze dried jalapeños and guacamole blend and have been loving both.

You all know my obsession for spicy food, but while nursing I was a bit nervous it would effect baby, so I’ve toned it down a bit.  But these blends give your food just the right amount of kick.

I added the freeze dried jalapeños to a homemade avocado based dressing and shared the recipe here on this Instagram post.

And then used the guacamole blend for my homemade guac, which is dangerously addicting!

I can’t wait to try the blends in other meals like with eggs, poultry, and more.

Long Walks

I have taken six weeks off of working out postpartum but have been going on long walks daily.  The walks started at just a mile and now I do two laps around my neighborhood which is almost 2.5 miles.  I really enjoy them and I think Audrina does too because she is quiet or sleeping the whole time, hehe.

Even though I’ve been giving the green light to return to workouts I plan to still keep walking on active recovery days and even just to get out of the house.

Cherry Season

Yay for Summer and cherry season!  I love buying seasonal produce and was so excited to see cherries on sale last week at our local grocery store.  Keeping the theme of this blog, healthy balanced lifestyle, I’ve used them to make dessert and healthy smoothies.

Well my mom made dessert while she was here, I was a little occupied to help.  She made a homemade cherry slab pie that we topped with vanilla ice cream that was amazing!!!  I went back for seconds each time 😉

And I have been enjoying the delicious fruit in my Cherry Pie Smoothie a few mornings.  I add collagen, protein powder, and flaxseed to help keep me full and for extra nutrients (fav brands of each are linked).

6 Week Baby Update

Here is Audrina’s six week baby photo.  Did you read this post on Life so far with a Newborn?   I share all things from sleeping, feeding, and the emotional roller coaster of the first few weeks with our baby girl.  I know I keep saying this, but the time really does go by so fast.  She is staying awake even longer some days and sleeping a lot others, so establishing a schedule is impossible.  My world just revolves around her and what she needs and I am totally ok with that right now <3

REAL Food Bars and a GIVEAWAY

I am obsessed with these REAL Food Bars that contain quality ingredients, are filling, and taste delicious.  A huge bonus is they are also hubby approved.  I totally thought that while on maternity leave I would have some time to make my own homemade snack bars, oh I was so wrong.  Breastfeeding hunger is intense and I constantly need to grab something quick in between or before a feeding so I don’t get haaaangry.

I love that these bars have healthy fats, carbs, and vegan protein and aren’t overly sweet.  And there is also kale hidden in them for more nutrients.  They are all delicious but the Cherry Cashew is probably my favorite.

    I love cherries! I was so excited to find them in my coop the other day! I have never seen the LiteHouse Spices before. I will have to look for them.
